Unzip ZIP and RAR
Open ZIP and RAR files in your browser, see what's inside, and download only what you need.
Drag your .zip or .rar here or click to choose it
ZIP or RAR. Processed in your browser, never uploaded to any server.
When a .zip or .rar lands in your inbox and you just want to see what's inside, this tool opens it in your browser and shows you the full list, subfolders included. From there you can download a single file or the whole thing. Nothing to install, and the archive never goes to a server.
How to unzip a ZIP or RAR file
Load the archive
Drag your .zip or .rar file into the box, or click to pick it from your computer. It opens right away, no waiting in line.
Check what's inside
You'll see a list of everything in the archive, with the subfolders laid out just as they are. Open any folder to see what it holds.
Download what you need
Grab a single file with one click, or ask for the whole archive repacked into a new zip if you'd rather keep it all together.
What it's good for day to day
- A ZIP with the month's invoices shows up by email and you only need two: download those without extracting the rest.
- You're on a work computer where you can't install WinRAR, and you still have to open a .rar someone sent you.
- Your professor drops the course material in a .rar and you only want today's lecture PDF, not the forty images.
Frequently asked questions
Is unzipping ZIP and RAR files here free?
Yes, it's free and there's no account to create. We don't ask for your email, there's no hidden paid tier, and we don't add watermarks or extra files to anything you download. Open as many archives as you like.
Where do my files go when I open them?
Nowhere. The ZIP or RAR opens inside your browser, on your own device, and its contents never travel to a server of ours. Close the tab and there's no copy and no record of it anywhere.
Do I need to install WinRAR or any other program?
No. It works with the browser you already have, on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, or iPhone. That's exactly the point for those times when you're on someone else's computer and can't or don't want to install anything.
Is there a size limit or a limit on how many files?
We don't set a limit on how many, and there's no queue. The real ceiling is your device's memory: an archive of several gigabytes can be slow or stall on an old phone, while a desktop handles it comfortably.
Can I open a password-protected ZIP or RAR?
Not yet. If the archive asks for a password, the tool can't extract what's inside. For those you still need a desktop program like 7-Zip or WinRAR. We're working on adding it.
