Compress PDF or Image
Shrink PDFs and images without uploading them anywhere: it all happens in your browser.
Drag your PDF or image here or click to choose it
PDF, JPG, PNG or WEBP. Processed in your browser, never uploaded to any server.
When a file won't fit in an email or takes forever to upload, the problem is usually weight, not content. This tool shrinks your images and PDFs right in your browser: the file never travels to a server, so it works the same for a product photo as for a scanned contract.
How to compress a file
Pick your file
Drag your PDF or image onto the box, or click to find it on your computer. It opens in the browser; nothing gets uploaded.
Let it compress
The tool checks whether it's an image or a scanned PDF and applies the right kind of compression. Speed depends on your device, not on a queue.
Download the result
Compare the size before and after, then download the compressed file. If the quality isn't what you wanted, run it again with a different setting.
What people use it for
- A scanned contract weighs 30 MB and email won't take it. Compressed, it goes through in one message instead of three.
- Uploading photos to an online store: lighter images load faster, and the catalog stops stalling on phones.
- Sending a client your PDF quote over WhatsApp: it arrives in seconds even on mobile data with a weak signal.
Common questions
Do my files get uploaded to a server?
No. All the compression happens inside your browser, with the file held in your device's memory. It never goes to a server of ours or anyone else's, so you can use it on contracts, invoices or ID documents.
Is it free? Is there a limit on files?
It's free, with no limit on files or on how many times a day you use it. Since the work is done by your device and not by a server of ours, we have no per-file cost to pass on. We don't ask for a sign-up or card details either.
How much smaller does a file get?
It depends on the file. On one image we measured 46% less weight. A PDF of scanned pages went from 135 MB to 647 KB, because the images are rebuilt. If the PDF is text, only its structure gets compacted and the gain is much smaller.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
There's nothing to install and no account to create. It runs in the browser you already have, on a computer or a phone. There's also no watermark on the result and no queue to wait in before it processes.
Can you still read the PDF text after compressing?
If the PDF was a scan, its pages were already images and they stay that way: they look fine, but you can't search or select the text. If the PDF was text, the text is kept as it was, because only the file's structure gets compacted.
