Does my video get uploaded to a server to compress it?
No. The entire process happens inside your browser, using your own device's memory and processor. The file never travels to our servers or anyone else's, so no copy is ever stored anywhere else.
How long does it take to compress a video?
It depends on the video's length and how powerful your device is, since your device does all the work instead of a remote server. An older computer or phone will be noticeably slower than a modern computer, and long files can take several minutes.
Why is the first time I use this tool so much slower?
Because it needs to download a roughly 30MB video engine that lets it process the file inside your browser. That only happens once — after that, the engine is already there and later conversions start much faster.
What's the difference between High, Medium, and Low quality?
High keeps the most detail but shrinks the file less; Low gives you the smallest file, but there's a real, visible drop in sharpness, especially in fast-motion scenes. Medium is a reasonable middle ground for most videos.
Is it free? Do I need to create an account?
