Common questions
What happens to my video? Is it uploaded to a server?
No. The video is opened and processed inside your browser, on your own machine. It never travels to our servers or anyone else's, so no copy of it is left anywhere. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Is it free? Is there a limit on videos or length?
It's free and there's no cap on conversions: make as many as you need. We don't ask you to sign up and we don't add a watermark. The only real limit is your device's memory, since your browser does the work.
Why does the first conversion take so long?
Because the tool needs a video engine that downloads the first time you use it. That's a few extra seconds, once: after that it stays saved in the browser and the conversions that follow start right away.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
There's no program or extension to install, and no signup either. It runs in the browser you already have on your computer or phone; on mobile, stick to short clips so you don't run out of memory.
Why is the GIF bigger than the original video?
That's normal: GIF compresses far worse than video and only handles 256 colors, which is why it looks less detailed. To keep the size down, stick to a short stretch; a few seconds is enough to get the idea across. GIFs also have no sound.
